Description
Cold-PressedCitrus Top NoteSingle-BotanicalAromatherapy Grade
Bright, slightly bitter citrus with a green-floral edge — the signature top note in Earl Grey tea and classic eau de cologne.
Sampson’s Bergamot is a pure single-botanical essential oil from Citrus bergamia, cold-pressed from the peel of a small citrus grown almost exclusively in Calabria, Italy. Cold-pressing preserves the bright top notes that steam distillation would destroy — the reason proper bergamot smells crisp and complex rather than candy-sweet.
Traditionally used in daytime diffusion for a clean, lifted room scent and as the citrus anchor in custom blends for study and focus spaces. Bergamot is a citrus oil, which means it’s on the cat-toxicity list — see the safety tip in How to Use before diffusing in a multi-pet household.

Benefits
🍊
True Calabrian Bergamot
Source
From the small Italian citrus that gives Earl Grey its name. Cold-pressed peel oil, not synthetic flavouring — the difference shows up on the first sniff.
✨
Bright Top-Note Lift
Aroma
Sharper than orange, less acidic than lemon, with a slight floral edge from natural linalool. Reads “clean room” in a diffuser without smelling like cleaning product.
🌿
Blends With Almost Anything
Versatility
One of the most-used citrus oils in perfumery because it carries florals, woods, and herbs equally well. A reliable first reach for custom diffusion blends.
How to Use
01
Diffuse
Add 3–5 drops to an ultrasonic diffuser per 100 ml of water. Run for 30–60 minutes, then pause — continuous diffusion isn’t more effective and can desensitize the nose.
02
Dilute for Skin Use
Adults: dilute to 1–3% in a carrier oil (jojoba, sweet almond, fractionated coconut) — 6–18 drops per 30 ml of carrier. For kids, elderly, pregnancy, or sensitive skin: 0.5–1% (3–6 drops per 30 ml). Always patch-test first.
03
Refrigerate After Opening
Citrus oils oxidize fastest — keep this one in the fridge once opened and use within 6–12 months. Unopened, it keeps about 1–2 years in a cool, dark place.
“Not safe to diffuse around cats — this oil is on the cat-toxicity list. Also avoid around birds. Dogs tolerate small amounts in well-ventilated spaces.”
