🌿 Herbal☕ Caffeine-Free❄️ Winter Cup🌿 Loose Leaf

The winter mug — ginger, peppermint, lemongrass and elderberry, the warming herbal cup that belongs in a thick sweater.

Across kitchen traditions — from a French « tisane d’hiver » to a North African ginger-and-lemon glass to a Northern European elderberry decoction — the same handful of botanicals show up wherever cold weather and a kettle meet. This blend is built around that recurring cast: ginger root for warmth, peppermint for the cooling top note, lemongrass for citrus brightness, elderberry and rosehip for body.

It’s a ritual cup, not a remedy. Sampson makes no medical claim — this is the herbal mug that belongs on the table during the long-coat months, the tea you reach for between bowls of soup, the one you brew big in a pot and re-warm through the afternoon.

Tasting Notes

🍁

Ginger-Lemon Top

Aroma

The aroma walks in warm — dried ginger root and cut lemongrass, the smell of a kitchen mid-soup rather than candied ginger candy. Peppermint sits behind, cooling the edges.

🔥

Warm Spicy Body

Body

Ginger carries the cup — a real, low warmth that builds rather than burns. The peppermint cuts through it the way mint cuts through rich food, keeping the cup balanced.

Clean Berry Finish

Aftertaste

Closes with a quiet sweetness from the elderberry and rosehip — a soft jammy note rather than added sugar. The cup ends warm, not heavy.

How to Brew

01

Measure

One heaped teaspoon (about 2–3g) per 8oz cup. The blend is dense — don’t overload, the ginger has range.

02

Heat the Water

Bring water to a full boil — 100°C / 212°F. Roots and berries need real heat to release.

03

Steep 5–7 Minutes

Cover the cup. Five for a softer cup, seven for full warming body. Won’t go bitter on a long steep.

Water

100°C

Time

5–7 min

Per Cup

1 heaped tsp

Goes well with a slice of fresh lemon and a small spoon of honey. Brew double-strength and pour over ice for a warming summer iced tea — ginger drinks well cold too.

About the Tea

🔥

Ginger Root

The Heart

Cut ginger root pieces form the warming spine of the cup. Real root, not powder — the heat builds gradually rather than hitting all at once, and the cup keeps its character through a long re-warm.

🌿

Peppermint & Lemongrass

The Lift

Cut peppermint adds the cool top note that keeps the ginger from going one-dimensional; cut lemongrass adds a clean citrus brightness. Together they make the warmth feel balanced rather than just hot.

🍇

Elderberry & Rose Hip

The Body

Dried elderberries and rose hips fill out the cup with a natural jammy sweetness — they’re the kitchen-cupboard botanicals long associated with cold-weather routines across European tradition. They round the cup; they don’t make it sticky.

In the tin

Ginger root, peppermint, lemongrass, elderberries, rose hips, lemon peel, licorice root.

Origin & Sourcing

A winter-cup blend in the European herbal tradition — ginger root for warmth, peppermint and lemongrass for the lift, elderberry and rose hip for body, lemon peel and licorice for the rounding sweetness. Caffeine-free, ritual rather than remedy, blended in small batches for the Sampson shelf.
